Neuro-Cognitive Therapy

What Is Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy? Cognitive rehabilitation offers retraining in thinking, using judgment, and making decisions. The main focus is to correct deficits in memory, concentration and attention, perception, learning, planning, sequencing, and judgment. Cognitive rehabilitation therapy (CRT) aims to enhance the person’s capacity to process and interpret information and improve the person’s ability to function in all aspects of family and community life.
Individuals may need to focus on restoring, strengthening, and sharpening cognitive functions impaired due to a brain injury, stroke, or another medical incident. In cognitive rehabilitation therapy, a clinical provider will work with patients by providing them with cognitive exercises to perform, hands-on, bridging activities, and discussion questions to help them learn and translate cognitive strategies to their everyday lives.

Our Standard Cognitive Assessment Battery

Memory
The Immediate and Delayed Recognition tests assess patients' ability to recognize items that previously appeared immediately after being prompted and after a time delay. These tests predominantly determine function in the temporal lobe, as well as in the frontal, parietal, and occipital lobes.
Attention
Trail Making A & B are established neuropsychological tests that measure visual search speed, scanning, processing speed, mental flexibility, and executive functioning. These tests provide insight into cognitive function in the frontal lobe and the parietal and occipital lobes.
Executive Function
Continuum Healthcare Network uses two well-established tests to assess executive function. The Digit-Symbol Substitution test measures processing speed and accuracy, and the Stroop Color and Word test measures the reaction time required to overcome cognitive interference. These tests assess function primarily in the frontal lobe and the parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes.

Extended and Custom Assessment Batteries

Continuum Healthcare Network, Extended battery, includes two additional assessments: the Flanker Test, which measures patients' reaction times and attention, and a proprietary coordination test, which measures patients' motor functions.

Assess Patients from Anywhere with Remote Testing

Remote Assignment Using our testing platform to administer remote cognitive assessments can expand access to cognitive care and protect vulnerable patients. Our platform lets providers assign assessments to patients with a User login or with a PIN code shared through email or text message.

Custom Cognitive Assessment Protocols

Our Protocols Manager lets providers create custom cognitive assessment protocols designed for their patients and needs. Providers can choose which assessments and screening tools to include and the order in which to administer them.
